While most tablet manufacturers are typically quite concerned with the level of security provided by their products, a company called Auraslate has quite a different approach on this matter, revealing a couple of hacker-friendly tablet.
We’ll have to admit that Auraslate hasn’t got much going for it in terms of brand-name, but, on the other hand, its two tablets, the 7-inch LifePad 726B and the 10-inch LifePad 1026 are some pretty interesting products, since they enable users to fiddle with the operating system as they see fit. That’s possible due to the fact that Auraslate offers the LifePad tablets as developers’ kits.
Naturally, for users not that much into hacking, but rather into an affordable tablet, the company also offers the tablets pre-loaded with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
The smaller, 7-inch LifePad 726B comes packed with a 800 x 480 pixel capacitive touchscreen and is powered by an 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A9 single core processor, while also featuring 512MB of RAM memory and 4GB of storage space expandable via a microSDHC card slot.
Exta features include a mini-HDMI output port, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, plus a front-facing camera module, as well as a battery pack providing up to 6 hours of functioning life.
The 10-inch LifePad 1026 has roughly the same hardware configuration as its smaller brother, but a larger, 10-inch, 1024 x 768 pixels display.
Pricing for the 7-inch Auraslate LifePad 726B has been set at just $139, while the 10-inch LifePad 1026 is available for $199.
