NOOK Tablet Shows Up
While Amazon may have launched an iPad 2 competitor with the announcement of the Kindle Fire, Barnes & Noble have launched a Kindle Fire competitor – the NOOK Tablet. The specs make it hard for an eReader and Tablet fan to decide between the two. Let’s look at the specs and try deciding whether the NOOK Tablet deserves a place in our hands.
Featuring a 1 GHz dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage space, the NOOK Tablet has the main ingredients to become a fast tablet. The next thing it’s going to need is good...
iRiver Story HD will come with Google eBooks
iRiver Story HD will be the first eBook reader that will feature Google eBooks service. Although we expected Amazon’s Kindle to be the first device to have this option we are glad we can finally start using Google eBooks on an eReader.
According to Google’s official blog starting July 17th you’ll be able to buy the iRiver Story HD for $139.99 and enjoy having an eBook Reader. The only problem is filling it up with good books. That will be taken care of by Google eBooks service which includes over 250 independent bookstores. The...
Kindle priced at $114*
*Amazon has yet again lowered the price for its Kindle in order to attract more customers. However there is a catch.
Our precious planet has a better chance of not going into another ice age thanks to the Amazon Kindle. At some point we all are going to adopt this device and donate our books to museums. Amazon has the same opinion and, in order to bring that future closer to the present, decided to slash $25 from the original $139 Kindle price.
Don’t think Amazon’s profits will drop because for $25 less the customer will get to see...
The NoteSlate – Perfect for taking err… notes!
Dual core processors and a million GB of storage doesn’t come to our mind when we think of the easiest way of writing something on the go. Sure, you may think instantly that a sheet of paper will do just fine, but killing all those Brazilian forests really upsets Green Peace.
So how about something that is just as big and still uses a pen? A 13″ display would be perfect for taking notes and the e-ink technology would take care of taking notes on the go, even on a bright sunny day. Rumors say it would also come in different colors, just...
Hanvon to release the first color E Ink reader
Seems that everyone wants to win the e-reader race, simply because e-readers pack E Ink displays which have great visibility in direct sunlight, are easy on the eyes and don’t drain the battery as fast as a tablet display would. The problem is that E Ink displays show images in grayscale and everyone wants to bring the e-reading adventure into the realm of colors. Of course we’re still eagerly waiting for that promising Mirasol display, but before that and before Amazon and Sony make a move, China’s Hanvon is entering the color E Ink realm.

Booken Cybook Orizon, multitouch e-reader
It seems that Booken is approaching a release on the Cybook Orizon reader it’s been touting about at CES in January.
Booken is planning to launch their new Cybook Orizon e-reader “mid-October”.
The device will sport a 6 inch multitouch screen based on SiPix’s “Caress touch ePaper” technology with a 167 dpi resolution and 16 levels of gray, aiming for a “reading quality close to that of paper”. You’ll also get built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, 2 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and 150 pre-loaded books. A web browser that...
Viewsonic MB-P702 color e-reader and HD video player
When we take a look at the new Viewsonic MB-P702 we realize it’s more of a hybrid between a tablet and an e-reader. With its 7 inch 800 x 480 resolution touchscreen LCD display, it works both as an e-reader and a movie player.
Viewsonic MB-P702 doesn’t offer internet capabilities, but can read TXT, PDF, EPUB, CHM, HTML, UMD and PDB, also supporting handwriting annotation of PDF files.
Regarding video, it can play MKV, AVI, WMV, MPG, MP4, and RMVB, and offers 1080p support and HDMI output. You can also play any of the 256 preloaded games.

Sony launched new line of Reader digital books
Sony recently announced the launch of its stylish designed new line of Reader digital books, including the new Reader Pocket Edition, Reader Touch Edition and, in the US, the wireless Reader Daily Edition.
The new generation of Readers builds on the popularity of last year’s line. For 2010 Sony has restyled all three devices, reduced their size and weight, and made new, innovative touch screens available across the entire line.
“Today, we’re excited to announce not just the availability of the Reader Touch Edition and Pocket Edition in the...
Sharp’s e-reader may have a 3D future
Sharp is going to launch its brand new e-reader in Japan this fall and will become available in US by the end of this year.
According to the company’s President Mikio Katayama this device will aim “to rival the iPad,” and it may well sport a color LCD if earlier indications remain true, but the most intriguing news is the potential for 3D. Katayama claims to have witnessed great enthusiasm for 3D (particularly when it comes to games) and indicate it as a likely future direction for this new eBook reader.
“Multifunctional...
