Today, the Taiwanese manufacturer Gigabyte listed on the German and Taiwanese website, new netvertible models: Gigabyte TouchNote T1000X and Gigabyte TouchNote T1000P. The Taiwanese web page was removed, while the German wasn’t.
The Gigabyte T1000 has a 10.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixels touch-screen display that can be folded over the keyboard and be used in tablet mode. This new devices are based on the same platform as the Gigabyte T1028X TouchNote and might be seen as an upgrade for T1028X. They feature the new Intel Atom N450 at 1,6GHz or its faster version Intel Atom N470 at 1.83GHz processors, but Gigabyte decided to use the same shell. The only visible difference is made by the new chicklet keyboard added to the mix.
The reason for removing the page was because of the unavailability of the Intel Atom N470 processor. Several other companies decided to take the same actions, because Intel didn’t stated its existence just yet.
Its specifications are 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB 2.5″ SATA hard drive, Intel NM10 Express chipset and Intel GMA 3150 graphics, 2xUSB2.0 ports, an eSATA/USB combo port, microphone and headphone jack, VGA and 10/100 LAN, a 4-in-1 card reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro), and an Express Card slot.
The Gigabyte T1000 model will also come with 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. T1000 comes in two versions, the difference is made by the battery being used; Gigabyte T1000X model will have a 4 cell battery and Gigabyte T1000P will have a 6 cell battery.
Gigabyte T1000X measures 265(W) x 195(D) x 38.5(H) mm and weights 1.3kg (with his 4 cell battery included) and Gigabyte T1000P measures 265(W) x 214(D) x 41.4(H) mm and has 1.48kg (also plus its 6 cell battery).
There is no word on price so far, but usually convertible tablet-style netbooks, aren’t very cheap. Also no word about its availability, but it will be in direct link with the time when Intel will announce N470 arrival.
