JooJoo is now available in Europe, firmware update on the way

Fusion Garage tablet had its ups and downs along its uncertain birth, from delays, unclear ownership rights and partnerships. When it finally arrived on the market it didn’t got very favorable reviews, some from objective and some subjective reasons or they were excessively compared with a not web-only tables that are already on the market.

The reason behind the tablet is that most people just use a netbook or a laptop for web browsing, nothing more, and I think that JooJoo does that very well.

There have been many flaws reported with the tablet because is using a browser-like Linux that was developed from scratch. That is a titanic work and some said it would better have used Chrome or Android. Also the use of Nvidia Ion graphics isn’t justified because instead it could’ve used Intel Atom N450 paired up with Broadcom Crystal HD or an ARM processor like Nvidia Tegra 2, this would’ve increased the battery life without diminishing video performance.

The tablet was first intend for a sub $200 price tag, but ended up costing more than twice as much. This magical device (“joujou” stands for African magical device hence its name) has arrived in Europe and can be purchased from the official website for 359Euro (+15Euro for shipping).

Fusion Garage is aware of the JooJoo’s weaknesses and is promising to release a weekly update to address the issues. On the long term it hopes to change the overall negative opinions that formed about the tablet. The upcoming firmware update that will come soon will add support for full screen HD video playback.
