Foxconn-Tablet-Tegra2-1

At the CES 2010, Foxconn presented a working Tablet based on Nvidia’s Tegra 2 platform. The number of Tablet based on the new platform from Nvidia, Tegra 2, is considerable.

This tablet developed by Foxconn (the company responsible for development of the new Apple iPad) will come with a few advantages against its “rival”. Even though not many details are available, especially from the technical point of view even if the presence of Tegra 2 gives the opportunity to convey flows through an appropriate resolution of 1080p video output and offers an autonomy that can reach up to 16 hours.

One of the things perhaps more significant is the presence of a user interface that displays a search field Bing, and support for Adobe Air Apps for downloading content. Another possible advantage may be the fact that it is also able to run Adobe Flash apps.

The tablet has a rather conventional design, with rounded corners, size and weight in line with expectations, you can’t say it’s unpleasant. In the future more information about this tablet is expected in the weeks to come and will reveal more details about it.

Already we can admit is going to be quite a fight in this new mobile devices niche that Apple created with the introduction of iPad. And we can’t wait to see if it got what it takes to survive in this new market.

Foxconn iWonder Tablet – Android OS based

Foxconn-iWonder

The Tablet was showcased at the MWC and is based on Android OS and Marvell design. iWonder Tablet has a 10.1-inch resistive display with a rather low resolution of 800 x 600. Usually for a 10.1-inch display a resolution of 1024 x 768 is more appropriate. It is powered by the Intel Marvell processor; it has built-in Wi-Fi with dedicated on/off switch, but no 3G radio.

The tablet has a full size stylus, a 3,5mm jack, one normal USB port, not a mini-USB, power connector, microSD card slot, volume control, brightness control, touch buttons along the bezel with typical Android functions, like home and menu. When used as an eReader, the iWonder has two buttons suited for back and next page, also both are touch buttons.

First of all the showcased tablet was an early sample, either from hardware and software point of view, as many of the features weren’t yet available. The netbook is based on Android 1.6 OS and has a totally customized home-screen which includes a permanent search bar at the top, application icons in the main center region and weather on the left side of the screen.

The price intended for Foxconn iWonder Tablet is set very low, $100 and for what is offering is a very good choice, but until all the features are implemented and the final version is released by the end of this year there isn’t much to say. The start seems promising, let’s see the rest.
