Tandem USB – one behind the other

Designers Lin Yi Fan and Hong Yih Chu imagined USB Tandem concept, which involves a USB connection sites in series, one behind the other. Their idea was distinguished at iF Concept Design Award 2010.

There are many USB concepts that could be the solution for the small number of USB ports usually found on portables, but  this one has won a iF concept Design Award this year, and brings a small innovation.
It’s called USB Tandem and is a concept envisioned by designers Lin Yi Fan and Hong Yih Chu. As in the case of Infinite USB, the basic idea is USB connection of sites in a row, one behind the other, each USB connector in turn, making an empty “USB Port”, to another connector. And so on.

Innovations brought by Tandem USB are intended comfortable positioning of the wires, as can be seen in the picture.

Unfortunately, problems such as insufficient power, once they have been connected to several sites in the same USB port, or the failure of a device disconnection in the middle of the string, not yet been resolved.
